In 2016, the Bar Council undertook research to gather first-hand evidence of the experiences and challenges of being an employed barrister.
Snapshot Report: The experience of Employed Barristers at the Bar evaluated a mixture of qualitative and quantitative data. The report found that, whilst there does not appear to be an issue in attracting individuals to the employed Bar, more needed to be done to raise the profile of its work and the opportunties the employed Bar has to offer.
Employed Bar Awards
The Employed Barristers Committee planned and produced the first ever Employed Bar Awards which took place at the Tower of London in June 2017. The event was attended by over 190 guests and winners were selected for six separate award categories. Plans are underway for the next awards ceremony which will take place at the Imperial War Museum in June 2018.
