Introduction

The Bar Council has continued to promote the effective, independent regulation of the Bar through the independent Bar Standards Board, ensuring the highest standards of professional practice.

Independent regulation

The ‘Approved Regulator’ of the Bar is the Bar Council. The Bar Council is obliged by law to separate its regulatory and representative functions, which it does by delegating responsibility for regulating the Bar to the independent Bar Standards Board (BSB).
